Angelina Jolie: Invention Offers Her Pout Without a Punch

Angelina Jolie has enviable lips. A new invention can give smaller lips her lush look, but it also gave MSNBC’s Melissa Dahl a bruised kisser.

It’s called the “JolieLips Lip Plumping and Enhancement System.” It’s a suction pump the shape of a grapefruit that temporarily enlarges the lips.

The instructions say that if you use this product several times a day, you too can look like Angelina Jolie, if only for a short while. This lip plumping system retails for $28.

Melissa Dahl, a writer for the MSNBC blog “Does It Work?” tested the product and said that while it did produce bigger lips, it also creates discoloration. She wrote that her lips were a deep purple the day after she used the product.

Dahl also quoted Dr. John Canady, president of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, who said that although this product might provide users with a set of swollen lips, so would “getting punched in the face.”
